I just realized these two were posted in conjunction with one another on my main blog. Somehow, it seems wildly appropriate.
The Dowager Countess approves.
Matthew: Do you think it would be right for me to throw her over because I can walk? To dismiss her because I no longer have need of her services?
Violet: Spoken like a man of honor. And we will not fall out over this.
Matthew: But you don’t agree.
Violet: I will just say one thing. Marriage is a long business. There’s no getting out of it for our kind of people. You may live 40, 50 years with one of these two women. Just make sure you have selected the right one.
I was watching her the other night, when you spoke of your wedding. She looked like Juliet on awakening in the tomb.
When Lady Violet starts alluding to Romeo and Juliet, you know things are serious…

Someone needed to interfere if the two of them are too proud to face the truth, and I’m thrilled that the one interfering is The Dowager Countess… especially since Cora is now meddling in the opposite direction.
I don’t even know what to think about tonight’s episode.
All I can say for now (especially about next week’s promo), is that I absolutely love Lady Violet, the Dowager Countess and the greatest supporter of Mary and Matthew. What would everybody do without her?
